Richmond Melbourne’s Handy Public Transport
Trams are not only a great way to get around Richmond and Melbourne but they are also one of Melbourne’s fun tourist experiences. The Number 70 tram down Swan St stops at the street corner of your Richmond accommodation. It is a few minutes to the sporting area – the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the Melbourne Park Tennis Centre and the new rugby/ soccer complex (see more about Richmond and Melbourne sports). A few minutes more on the tram takes you to Federation Square in the heart of the Melbourne CBD with an excellent Tourist Information centre (see more about Melbourne attractions).
Richmond’s fashion strip in Bridge Road is also just a tram ride away. Don’t forget the rules for finding a bargain.
And further north on the Church St tram is the very popular Vietnamese restaurant area in Victoria Street. Victoria Street also has Asian grocery markets and funky furniture stores.
Alto is close to the East Richmond train station, and Richmond station down the road is the rail hub to Melbourne’s east.
